Worthy compI am currently working on an installation for an Advent exhibition at the Leftbank venue in Leeds, taking place between 27th November and 20th December 2009 … http://leftbankadvent.blogspot.com
25 artists and groups representing 25 themes within the Christmas story. As for my piece of work, I aim to create a digital print comprising scripture verses that attempt to communicate the essence and also the breadth of the meaning of the title “the Lamb of God”. The composition will be beautiful, complex and fascinating, to hold the attention of the viewer.LeftThe composition will be placed under glass to signify that we see through a glass darkly. We now only see in part, a mere shadow of what we shall soon fully know. In this life we occasionally have glimpses of the glory of God: moments of clarity where the mystery is revealed ~ windows of revelation about who God is, his character and his great love for us. This piece of work aims to offer the viewer a few more glimpses.

Pomegranates and Bells copy All of the above is prophetic symbolism, woven in cloth, which points to the life and ministry of Jesus, who preached the Kingdom of God with signs, wonders and miracles following to authenticate who he was and is today.

CrosswatermarkThis is a cross I constructed using bracken collected near the Cow and Calf rocks in Yorkshire.

This is the first cross I have created and has featured several times in my work, in various designs and formats.  I have also experimented with scale and, at it’s most dramatic, this image has been used to create a 2.5 m long textile hanging.

It’s a striking image in its simplicity and, to me, communicates both beauty and mystery.

Before designing the bracken cross, I had never considered working with any kind of representations or re-working of the cross.  Out of all my designs, I would say that this particular image has impacted more people on a more profound level and for that reason I intend to explore how the designs of other crosses could arrest someone’s attention and communicate something of God to them.
